Sterling secures its place on new 4 year Government print framework

May 2007

Sterling's long standing position as a supplier of Government printing services is set to continue for an additional 4 years. Following a rigorous tender process, the Kettering based company, with a London agency in Chelsea, is one of a select group of printers to have been awarded a framework agreement, with effect from 1 April 2007, under the 4 year, Pan Government Collaborative Print Services Contract which is expected to be worth up to £250m per year.

Chris Timm, Sterling’s marketing director commented; ‘this excellent news proves that our commitment to ongoing investment in the latest technology continues to pay dividends. Since our move to Kettering we’ve undergone an 18 month programme of reviewing and replacing elements of our plant to ensure we maximise efficiency and production quality.’

These investments include the most progressive computer to plate technology available, a brand new colour control system linked to all 3 of its B1 presses, as well as new, state of the art inserting, OCR and personalisation equipment. In addition Sterling has installed a new HP Indigo 5000 press which boosts the company’s existing colour and mono digital print capabilities.

A spokesman for the Department for Transport, says ‘this new framework agreement is designed to ensure that we receive best value and excellent quality across all our publications from a group of printers who share our vision and values. Sterling Press, which has worked with DfT over the last 5 years have an established track record’.

Sterling moved to new, purpose built premises in October 2005 and this announcement is another in a line of significant, recent achievements for the print, direct mail, design and new media group, including ISO 14001 accreditation at the end of November 2006
